Saw starts, compression feels ok, but kind of just dies. It was super dirty so I figured I'd pull the muffler first and check the piston. I think it's ok although there is some build up of carbon on the exhaust port of the jug. The muffler gasket broke when I tried to gently clean it. I did not realize it was not metal so that's on me. The carb needle and screen were spotless but the gaskets disintegrated when I pulled them off. Are these NLA? I am trying to find the correct part number for the rebuild kit. Also needs a new rim sprocket and the aforementioned muffler gasket. The carb has the lip on the side that fits up against the intake boot. Saw was not leaking anywhere that I could tell. Will check all the fuel lines and hoses and make sure nothing is cracked/ripped. I think perhaps it just needs an adjustment on the "L" screw but I do need those parts first. Tree guy dropped off 9 saws. Holy moly. And Chud he dropped off like (3) 242's! Counting the 3 that I own and the 3 192s that are all messed up, that makes 15 saws in the garage atm! What the? Plug looks ok. Air filter was dirty. It's an NGK CRM6H just like the Stihl 193/194. This saw was DIRTY man.
I just saw a Donyboy video where he showed a carb leaking where the brass nipple is inserted into the carb itself. I will have to check this one for that possibility. Based on the pic it does look like there is some fuel leakage although that might have been when I disconnected everything.
Good luck! The replacement gasket I got for mine is metal. I’m still in disassembled mode. You’ll probably have 15 fixed before I sit down with mine.
Do you take it off choke with the choke lever or by pressing the throttle trigger? I think that using the choke lever keeps the saw at high idle and pressing the throttle trigger doesn't. Worth resetting the Autotune as well, if you can keep it running long enough.
I pulled the filter out and while it was slightly brown in color it didn't not appear to be f-ed but yeah it wouldn't hurt to order a few fuel lines and filters since I got a whole bunch of saws I'll be working on and save on the hassle and shipping. I didn't touch the choke lever just blipped the throttle. It sounds like it's not getting enough fuel. Now that I cleaned out the carb area it should be easier to see if there is a leak there. I didn't get a chance to do any further work today but will look at it tomorrow before ordering parts. Thanks for the tips.
I just saw an old post on this site comparing Husky and Stihl and AM filters and I am going to open up this filter and see if the mesh is clogged up. Here's the old thread. Fuel filters - Husqvarna
Just checked and I think the filter is good. I tested it with vacuum and pressure and there was no blockage in either direction. Also when I opened it up it looked very clean inside that inner filter.
Pressure tested the fuel line and it held about 10psi of pressure no problem. I'll put a new fuel filter when I get them. The spark plug was gapped at almost .030" instead of .020". I put a new one in the there. Right now everything is apart because I wanted to take a look at the carb......and am awaiting a carb gasket kit and a muffler gasket as well as a bunch of stuff for the 372xp saws. Brand new CRM6H spark plug. Nice gap we got there.
