Replaced my sprocket on my 44 last night. Easy to get clutch off no special tool needed just a 15mm socket. Used the rope in the cylinder trick worked well. I tightened the clutch back on pretty tight as no one usually mentions how tight to get it. But one guy mentioned in a youtube video that the sprocket was design to tighten not loosen during use. I had some one put on the original Oregon Powermate Sprocket system. The bearing didnt come out of the clutch cup but the roller bearings were rolling well so I just re-greased them again and put it on and it rolled on the shaft nicely and I only had the rim sprocket so thats all I replaced. The bearings looked good just didnt want to try and force the bearing out of the clutch cup. Waiting on christmas to open my new bar and chain to use them. I love my usqvarna 44 its old but it runs so well. I have used it since 1987 when I bought it used from a local dealer. He was an old man and he knew his stuff and he pointed me in the direction of the husky 44 said he just put in new piston and rings and went all thru the saw and checked it all out as some one had leaned it out too much. He was right its been a good saw and I have cut so many ricks of wood I couldnt begin to tell you how much. The saw is one I will never part with as its part of the family.
