Worth my time? I was given it because it wouldn't stay running. Seemed like it was running out of fuel. Messed with the carb adjustments but it wasn't doing much. Jug looks fine, just some minor scratches. 150psi compression. I pulled the carb apart and it had a bit of gunk and sawdust in it. Not sure how that would get in there? Cleaned it up, put it together and now it's flooding the engine, even with the mix screws all the way in. Needle is seating fine, everything looks ok. Found a carb kit for $9, but I'm wondering if I should even bother? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Carb-Repair...499?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item43c5dbca13 Anyone interested in it?
That's a pretty light duty machine. Maybe a good one for around the house, homeowner firewood duty, the occasional storm cleanup.... If you were thinking of using it as part if your business, I wouldn't see it lasting long.
The 142 you speak of is like the 36 i have been working on. Flooding for no reason. Its weird....the fuel line on it looked ok... But then the filter was bouncing sround the tank. Here the line was all so brittle that it was falling apart all over. So i replaced the line ( pain in the butt !) Put in a new spark plug and air filter. Now its fine. Runs and starts great ! But now i have so much into it... I have to keep it . Im gonna use the crap out of it ! As mentioned... A good little brush saw or atv saw.
Poulan and husqvarna are owned by the a arent company electrolux but there is still different plants for some of the different saw lines. Think they own the mccullah name too?
You might try new rubber and the carb kit and then sell it or use it. Those cheap IE saws are easy to get too deep into once you put a few minor parts on them.
Maybe $100 at the very best ! I have that into my 36... I cant break even. So ill use the crap out of it. Its a pretty cool saw though !
It was about $200 new, bought at Lowe's. 2006 EPA tag on it. It needs a muffler cover of some sort (loud as hell right now) and a chain. So I'd have ~$40 into it provided it just needs a carb kit. If it could run 18" 3/8" Stihl chain instead if the little low pro 3/8" I'd want to keep it more since I have a bunch of those chains.
Just be careful. My 36.... I started with the bare minimum... Then it nickel and dimed me ! If you are keeping it go for it. If flipping is on ur mind... Be careful. They are a nice little saw though. Parts are everywhere !
They put one of those on sale I think for maybe $189 or 179 I think a 141/2?? There is a few poulan sharks or wild things I keep resisting. They only are listed for $35 but one I know needs a carb build. Another needs a chain and probably need a gas cap to replace the ethanol swollen ones on them now probably. So I stay away..who knows what else they need. The last one I had $20 in purchase price. A kit , cap, air filter and I was worried I would get my money back. Made $20 so I did alright but would of been happy to get just what I had in it back. I resisted repairing a 025 I got for FREE earlier this year. At minimum would of needed a piston. But even a chicom drop in motor and the other things would of put that ugly saw over the sale price I could get, and I dont needs another 45cc saw so I am still currently parting it out on the bay. Think I have profited about $50 so far from it.
The 141 I've been screwing around with for my neighbor has yet to reveal it's true problem, it's going to get a vacuum test before I go into the bottom end because I still suspect a blocked muffler. Intake boot and impulse lines both appear in good condition - impulse line ~1/4" is $8-9+shipping...insane I told him throwing the thing away may be the best option but he want's to pay me for it
Your going to go into the bottom end on a 141 I can't figure out how to delete these smilies? Picked the wrong ones!!
