Hey guys - a 555 came up on CL today - looks to be in great shape and price is right. Husqvarna 555 Anywho, spoke with the owner - retired and said he received the saw as payment for something. Not sure how old but certainly looks like low use. I'm heading to his house tomorrow afternoon to check it out. Anyone know what pattern the muffler bolts have? Figured normal allen for Husq, but want to make sure I can pop the muffler for a look at the top end. Thanks! Cheers!
I have a 555 for firewood, you may want to remove the chain brake guard as well to pull the muffler. Makes it easier just a heads up.
Thanks - I had assumed there was a muffler cover that I could remove to look at the top end without completely removing the muffler - no so? Cheers!
Unfortunately the muffler itself is one piece. The front does not come off / split in two like a Sthil. You have to pull the whole thing out to look into the exhaust side of the motor. If you do, there is a metal gasket and cooling fin behind the muffler as well. Here is a pic for reference.
I have used an allen key to make sure mine is on tight on occasion. It can be reached without removing the brake handle.
1) the saw maybe looks good because the seller have change some plastic parts .............. just saying 2) dont take only an allen N0 5 take and some others type screwdrivers with you , maybe you dont need them but maybe you need them , maybe the seller have lost one bolt and replace it with a torx good luck
