    One step closer;

    I’ll need to get new hose.

    Couldn’t easily break the lock nut free. Moved it a small amount back and forth. Felt like it was going to ruin my day so I stopped. Guess I’ll just loop the hose.

    I didn't think about this being an older Huskee...the older ones had the filter on the suction hose...you'll wanna move that to the return line, otherwise its highly likely you'll be cavitating the pump...Huskee (along with most others) did switch to return side filters later on...its the same filter housing, just find the "in" and "out" marks on the housing so that you get it hooked up right.
    You might consider making a bypass hole like isaaccarlson did on his filter...that way you can't blow your filter up when the oil is cold/thick.

    It's in the part number there...16.5 on the high side, 3.6 on the low flow side, for a theoretical total of 20.1 GPM...but they don't rate them quite that high as they are not 100% efficient...there is some internal leakage/bypassing...IIRC, that one is rated for 19, or 19.5 gpm?

    I had to work like crazy to get my lock ring and elbow to turn, but it did finally go. I have a 24" crescent wrench that is very good at "sweet talking" fasteners into moving.

    A little heat might help break it loose. Not much, just enough to heat the stuff they put on the threads.

    Guess not so happy valentines day.. :(.
    I don't have the means to machine parts. And I think the return inlet is just a thin post. :headbang:
    So just moving the filter would resolve the issue? Not sure how I can pull that off.
    This pump only has a 90 day warranty so I was hoping to stress it soon. Guess that's out.

    If yours is like mine (and all the older Huskees that I've seen) the return hose is just clamped onto a pipe nipple...so you should be able to adapt the filter right up to that, no problem.
    On mine, since I added an auxilary tank, I have the return line/filter on that, then the aux tank just overflows into the main tank via the factory return nipple.
    And again, if yours is like mine, you'll need a 3/4" mnpt to 1" hose barb fitting to connect the hose to the suction port of the tank...like this.
    Groco Full Flow Pipe-To-Hose Barb Adapter w/NPT Thread 3/4" x 1" Hose Barb FF750 | eBay
    or

    Does your filter have a bypass? Take a picture inside the inlet/outlet.

    You may be planning on changing your hyd. fluid while you are changing the pump, but just FYI, if you aren't then you can tip the splitter on its butt and take the hose off without too much loss...at least I was, but the tank maybe wasn't clear full either...but some blocks under the tires would solve that issue if it did still try to leak out.
    I did end up draining the oil to replace it, but I wanted to have all the welding on the tank done before I put the new in.
