My Huskee 22 Ton splitter has some hydraulic fluid leaking out from around the filter. Anyone had this problem. I don't know if it's the lines, the seal, or the filter. Anyone ran into this?
Hello Mitch, Can you dry off the entire filter and housing then run it to pinpoint the leak? If it is a cartridge type filter and the leak is coming from the cartridge or seal then a simple fix is to replace it. When was the last time you replaced the cartridge? It could also be leaking at one of the threaded fittings entering or exiting the cartridge housing. Post some pictures so we can have a better look. Jim
Clean the filter assembly good and wipe off the lines that run to and from it. Once it's clean, run the machine until you see oil, and it should be much easier to see where it's coming from.
Mine had a slight drip that looked like it was coming from the filter that was caused by a loose clamp on the return line. I hope yours is that easy.
Non chlorinated brake cleaner is good for cleaning hyro oil of of things, sometimes discolored paint though. Gasoline stipulated melt the oil pic pretty easy too.
