Well my requests for quick drying wood have been answered. My MIL is a realtor and told me she had a client in my neighborhood with some trees down. They said I could take all I want.

Went over there and it is a gold mine. Huge 80ft red oak (I know 3 years), but there is also about 6 American Beech trees. Two I cut today seemed able to burn now. Its alot of work clearing paths to be able to safely buck the trees. But after this score I should be close to 3 years ahead. Still dont have a stove but man oh man do I have the wood for it.

Nice looking score. I hope the work of getting the rounds onto the truck isn't too much. Are you deep in the woods?

The oak will be worth it in three years, you know

Its not to much of a hill to the driveway. My plan is bucking everything then moving it up to their driveway to get loaded onto a trailer. Its only a .06 of a mile to my house.

I'm glad it wasn't you who cut them down. Those look like some scary notches and angled back cuts, especially that oak stump.

Jackpot indeed! Straight beech and oak... Beautiful setting you have there in your area.

Hopefully your MIL closes the deal and you have a new neighbor that needs to keep his future woods in order...
I see a stove in your future. :)

yea those cuts are a little sketchy. I'm amazed they cut so many trees and didnt get them c/s/s. They have a stove and use it so I dont know why they let these sit so long.

Did some more work this morning before going into work. Hopefully by next weekend I should have it all transported and ready to be split back at my house.

The 562xp has gotten a real workout and handled it like a champ. 20 inch bar on it.

Thanks man. Yea its hard work moving all those rounds up by hand. I just make sure to bend with my knees and keep my back straight. For those beech ones I take my hatcet and stick it in good for a handle then throw a round up on my shoulder. Who needs a gym :axe::thumbs:

Fantastic find Capetown! I surely would not want to be in the same woods with the guy who fell those though! Looking at that one stump, well, it stumps me just what he had in mind and it is amazing that it worked without killing someone.

Slowly chipping away at my score. Splitting the beech first so I can get it stacked and on its way. Then I have to find some more room for the oak to sit.
