Down in a pasture here. Land owner was not interested. WWW chomping at the bit to go get it so the Raptor Rehab lady can pick it up from us.

I suggested bed quilt and large cardboard box with gloves and heavy clothes. He is still weighing if the rancher will point a gun at him (I guess the Goldens are big enough to carry newborn calf away) so maybe the rancher isn't worried about it?

You dont! Call the game warden. Some places messing with birds of prey becomes a federal crime.

Agreed. And then wait and keep an eye on it so the azzhole rancher doesn't take it a step further...

    All places.

Call the warden. The landowner has no right to make the decision on the raptors life.

Also, the bird lady on Talk of Iowa says that untrained persons usually cause injured bird to die when they would have otherwise recovered.

There was a story on our local news this evening about a Golden Eagle. It had a severe bacterial infection.
They were able to rehab it and released not far from us.
    Cool story
    Golden eagle released from rehabilitation

I have to believe (or would hope) the GW won't drag his feet on a report like that.

If that thing spent the night on the ground, it's got serious issues and it's just a matter of time until another predator has supper there. Stay on the wardens. Hell, ask for a callback to see the outcome. Don't let them drop the ball.

I just called, the game warden is "out of area" for cell phone. Would be cool if he is out there now. She said to call again before they close at 5.

Called again before 5pm. No word yet from the Game Warden (I wonder if his phone was actually dead LOL) I'll call again in the morning.

Eh, like ducks, you wouldn't want to eat the ones that exclusively eat meat. Mergansers, for example. Yuk.

    Wildwest,
Keep us posted. If it doesn't work out, it might be for the best. Keep trying.
