I figure we're from 6-8 weeks away from the start of wood burning. Can hardly wait! I've had enough of summer weather. However, if it would stay in the 70's I would not mind that at all. Then cool off in September and even more in Octember.

Hopefully no more than 3 months here. Can’t wait to see the snow blowing sideways. The heat has been oppressive.

I'm in S NH, typically don't burn until late October, early November. But we have natural gas/forced hot water heat as well.
Some years we get a cool-down in late August, and we always close the pool by mid September because the water is too cold. I'm looking forward to crisp fall air for sure!

We usually start burning on September 15 unless it's warm out, we started burning on that date once we had shoulder season wood up. Each year we have 12 face cord up (two years worth), we burn four in the fall and the other two once spring hits.

    7 weeks maybe?
I'd like to get more wood in the shed first......mostly SS stuff, although there's enough in there for this winter.

I'm beginning to think about bringing some wood to the barn. I usually do that in October but seems every year it cuts into some hunting time. Also I would like to cut some wood in October this year if possible.

I usually start end of October, but we installed a pellet stove in basement last year, which produces more heat than anticipated. So I’ll probably start up the wood insert in mid to late November . The “start” of winter in southern New England varies drastically in what the temps could be. Pellet stove may have solved shoulder season burning.

Usually right around Halloween time frame... but last year it was a few weeks earlier... will see. This years heat hasn’t really been that bad all in all... we’ve had a few days of heat and high humidity, but not like years past. Will have a few more hot days before September, but hopefully will have a nice fall.

Last year or the year before we had to have a small fire to knock the chill off in mid September, but not until mid October after that... usually mid to late October here. We shall see.

It will be around thanksgiving at the earliest most likely usually not until December though.
I just need it to quit raining so I can get the truck into the backyard and bring wood in.
We keep getting these downpours of close to an inch. Just saturates the ground. Already rutted the middle of the yard this summer, thinking it was solid enough.

It is 90F here now so not thinking too much about the fireplace. Have not even been checking in here too often :(. I know winter is coming. Probably start sometime in mid October.

I fire up the OWB in mid October just to keep the chill out of the house. It’s our only source of heat since I refuse to buy oil.

I just took the mower out to the back 40 and almost got myself stuck. I'm in no hurry for winter, although I like the cold.
It just means wet season to me right now.

Snows flying 2nd or 3rd week in October, so hopefully another 8+ weeks. Can't wait for leaf peeping to begin!
