I was just talking with my wife about how many rounds I have cut in my life and how many pieces of firewood I have made. She guessed millions, and my first thought was “yeah, that might be”, but then I did some rough math and was shocked. I figured a rough average of 6 cord a year for 35 years. If each cord has 700 splits, that’s close to 150,000 splits. Round count might be around 30,000. That’s only counting useable firewood rounds and I figured 5 splits per round average.

How many rounds/splits do you guys think you have cut/split in your life?

No clue, but my hands feel like millions and I don’t understand why I still don’t have Bruce Lee forearms. Maybe if I ate more canned spinach.

These are the rabbit holes that I step over. I can't deal with these kinds of metrics in my life.

I was thinking you meant how many "splits per round".....

I've had a few rounds over the years that yielded 50+ splits but it's been a while since I've done any that big. More recently some oaks I've cut and split yielded 36 splits per round.

Using 700 splits per cord and 7 splits per for bundled wood. My son and I are at 170,000 this year. Previous to getting into the wood business my guess would be 300,000. Interesting!

I use 6 or 7 cords( complete guess) to heat my house
House wood used to be by hand but I cheat and use a splitter now.
Still move all my rounds/logs by hand, I don't own a tractor

We split 30 to 50 cords a year at work.
    (Not just me)
Using splitter, and we used dingo or skid to move the logs around at work

    As Chud says...way too much...lol...
Just between these sheds is 15+ cords... 20250417_104937.jpg 20250215_220156.jpg 20250924_193426.jpg
Not counting the other sheds and IBC totes that have been done. We have only been heating/selling wood for 11 yrs, but I grew up cutting wood for mom and dad.

I figure roughly 800 splits per one of my cords so 28-30000 splits per year at 35 cords.

I tried counting once but lost track in May!

I'm guessing at least 25K-35K splits per year. Bear in mind that I split small and also split kindling so I make lots of 'em per cord!

Don’t know, don’t care! In the time it would take me to come up with a ballpark figure, I could have made another 75-100 splits
