Right place right time again. I bumped into the tree guy who set me up with a load of red maple a little while ago while leaving work today. "Ya busy?" he asks. "Not too busy for some wood," I reply. "Ok, here's the address - some honey Locust limbs on the ground if you want em." He kept the bigger stuff, but I'm not going to complain - the job was close by, easy truck access, and most of this stuff is right on the cusp of split/don't split. Good size, all the brush was chipped - only 4"+ left. I'll probably split a third of it, leave the rest in rounds. I stopped on the way home for load one, then went home to switch trucks, change, pick up kid 1 for some errands, and back for load two. (I don't really have two trucks on rotation all the time.. first one is for sale to pay for the second one.) I'll give a call tomorrow and see if I can grab what's left, there's a full load still there but he was gone by load two and mentioned the homeowner wanting to keep a couple logs, just don't know which ones so I only picked the pile he identified before. Pretty sure he's right on the honey Locust ID, though this must have been a cultivar for yard planting, because it's got no thorns to speak of.
Nice haul BigPapi , I didn't know we had Honey Locust around here. I never seen any, just the Black variety. Those a nice size logs to handle that's for sure. Enjoy!
Just about done, nibbling away at it after work between rain drops and honey-do lists that always seem to pop up when the weather gets nice. A little bit more left to split and stack.
I don't know how your pics here came out on other computers, but on mine, your 2nd pic has blue wood. I want some! that's my fav color.
Lol, I guess it does look sorta blue.. sunset is not the time for wood pictures I guess! Maybe it's got that special glow in the dark lichen from up around Vermont Yankee!
I got it on the last one where the guy loaded the truck for me. Don't worry, they let anybody into the "you suck" club nowadays. lol
