I was cutting down a small dead standing white oak about a month ago and this is what I found.... :binoculars:

At first I was disappointed feeling I got schnookered, but now I'm thinkin maybe it might make a cool bowl or maybe an unbrella stand or something. :)

Last week I saw someone with about 10 rounds like that on a trailer. Looked like a really big beech.

Many years ago we discovered that a hollow stump was a great place to put a m-80. Made it so much louder.

If you or anyone else is into archery, those are super great! Put them about 20 yards out with the target about 5 yards behind it. You have to shoot through the log to make it count!

You could even put a balloon or two for targets. Great if you have young ones shooting because the bang gives them a thrill.

Have some of them here also, some good ideas here. These were out of the up rooted leaner full of water that gave me the brown stink water bath when I cut through with the saw wide open. I think I'll go ahead and take my revenge out with BTU's lol hollow1.jpg

I have some maple rounds like that. Mine were hollowed out by ants. Planning to use them as planters next year.

They were much easier to saw, carry and split and didn't produce nearly as much ash either....

Lot of gooder ideas here guys..:) My buddy suggested putting one strategically in my woodpile with a
deer cam hidden in it for the ultimate security camera hiding place. :ithappened:

I've had the opposite experience splitting larger hollow logs. It can really suck getting them to crack in half. They never want to break apart because there is flex on the far side. There is often hollow knots that have partially healed themselves and don't want play nice either.

place the on like a chimney, stuff full of kindling, allow some air in the bottom . :)

Son's girlfriend uses stuff like that for wall hanging crafts-frames, mirrors, etc. Some with live edge, some not. Nice find.

I sold these for $20 apiece. Women loved them for flower planters. I put bottoms in some.
