My brothers and sisters, I am lost…… I have a super abundance of uglies I now need to house for the next couple years.
I would greatly appreciate your ideas on building, buying, or anything of the sort for what you do for your uglies:eek:…. I used to put them on the top of my stacks but now I'm running out of room, I only live on a 1/3 acre and aready have about 12 cord on it knowo_O. I'm guessing I have about a cord of S#!t I need to stack:eek:…. but I'm not going to take them to the land fill, That's BTU's and $$$ to me:)

I would appreciate your suggestions, Thanks all :) Dave

Chainsaw them 4 inches wide and use for kindling or filling the gaps (when loading your stove to capacity).

When they build up too much I either burn them in the fire pit or give them to friends for fire pit or target holders.

On my splitting days I usually have a fire going to help dispose of bark and unwanted chunks.

I get a lot of them to stack in my regular stacks. Sometimes you can fit them in all together like a jigsaw puzzle based on their shapes. I'm also learning a hydraulic splitter can help make them any shape you want them to be.... :smoke:

Will that work or are they really short or something?

I'm like you Dave, I have 10 cord sitting on about 1/4 acre and a huge pile of uglies and punks.
My solution was 4 pallets joined together and laid flat on the ground. I propped them up on scrap pieces of PT from a job site. I then took a few more pallets to create a "U" shaped corral and placed all the shorts, uglies and punks in there.
because of their size, they season fairly quickly. I leave this uncovered until about early october and then cover the entire thing. I use some of this wood for shoulder season, some of it gets to the firepit over the summer and some of it comes along on camping trips. I have about 1 full cord of this stuff and always manage to use it up every year.
    Good luck!

    Fire pit,
They go there on pallets stacked best I can around the fire pit.

I burn some inside for shoulder fires, wheel barrel load at a time.

    My solution has been
    More fire pit fires :)

I built an uglies box out of old pallets... they get burned during shoulder season or warmer winter days OR in the fire pit. The big ones get ripped down to stove size.

Yes! Those bins are nice! I wish I could burn like a lot of you said, "but" outside fires in a residential neighborhood are against the law here:loco: …. They even stopped burn barrels a while back. I do have a "small" fire pit which was grandfathered but as the law is written it can only be used for cooking. Swags, doe's TSC have those? Last time I was there I didn't see any of them, I'll go on line and look.

I get them from local farmers, they have the plastic bins in them used for chemicals or detergents. Then I cleaned them out and put the plastic in the plastics bin at the recycle center. I paid about $30 for each of them. A tractor is nice to move them but if you don't have a tractor you can easily move them empty with a hand cart.

Thanks!!!! That's just what I need:cool:… And it won't "ugly" my yard:rofl: …. I don't have a tractor but the neighbors kids will help me move it and I do have a hand truck. Are they bolted to a pallet or just have wood runners?

My water tanks like those of Swags, have plastic bottoms (pallet like). In fact I've never seen one with a wooden bottom before. Now we usually put a good oak pallet under it so that if the forks hit it, it doesnt tear up the plastic one. But I do like that idea that Swags has.
