Hey guys, looking for some advice on picking out a gas saw. I currently have a 36Volt Cordless Makita chainsaw. I'm not a pro by any means but would like up my game one of these days with a new gas saw.
Thinking maybe a 16"-18" bar would suit my needs.
Any recommendations and/advice/who to buy from would be appreciated.
    Thanks guys.

How much wood will you be cutting in a year with it?
    What kind of wood?

Not too much really, maybe a cord or two. Like all my other power tools I would like to buy a good tool and have it for a long time.

Thanks Triumph. I will look into this Stihl. For some reason I'm feeling a Stihl more than a Husky, not sure why?

I don't have any Husky knowledge so I don't know what they offer for your needs. I will agree the MS 250 for your requirements would be perfect. I have one and take it with me most times I go to the woods. Mines set up with a 16" bar and 3/8 Pico and I'm satisfied although I think .325 may be more popular. I mainly cut the smaller stuff with it

The 445 is a good all-around saw, I use mine a lot, it weighs 10.8 lbs dry with no bar, it does good with the 18 inch narrow kerf bar and chain.
I have never had a lick of trouble with mine and it was a refurb, see-through fuel level is nice, has a primer bulb and I'm not sure why but a compression release.
Just used mine the other day for this. It's in the pic

She should be made aware, a faster cutting saw means more time for cuddling:D

I would recommend any saw that is at least 50cc that you like to hold in your hands. I would stay away from big box stores most of those saws are for basic use around the house and honestly they lack power and vibration dampening. A decent saw will set you back about 5-6 hundred but the price difference and longevity is well worth spending a few more dollars for.

I love my Stihl 260 and 026, the power to weight ratio is awesome, light enough to limb all day and enough power to do some smaller felling and bucking. I've run my father in laws 250 and it just doesn't compair. I would love to have a 261, but don't want to drop the $600 bones for it.

I traded a 391 for the 260 and some cash and got the 026 for $200 no regrets in either deal. If I were you I would look for a good used 026/260/261.

I wouldn't buy used saw from eBay or Craigslist in your situation less you want to work on it.
Buy a used saw from someone on here that's a different story.
You don't need the best of the best to mak occasional firewood, but then again a pro saw takin care of properly can be handed down through next Generations.
If you have an Echo dealer in the area go check them out
