Found this in the middle of some old woods, rural eastern Ohio. The timber was cut some time ago, maybe 50/60 years. Looks like a piece off old machinery. Starts off 1-1/4” round, turns 4 sided with a 1/2” hole halfway down, then flattens out to paddle shape. Serious pitting of material. Been there a long time. Any ideas of what this may be? Thanks.

    Nice find!

    Looks heavy. Rock bar heavy?

As it looks like a spoon without a sharpened edge, maybe it was used to remove bark?

Maybe used to stir moonshine mash?

Guessing a cord through the hole to hang it?

    The hole

Replaceable tip. Zoom in on the pic with v notch. There’s a screw head in it.

I’d say the sucker is 20lbs. Carried it a mile out so it was heavy enough.

Stargate TV show from a while ago. I cut the cord on cable and broadcast TV quite a while ago so I can be a bit behind the times when it comes to those venues.

That is what I am leaning to so far. It almost looks like the spade end has been welded together.

Did they slide up in a 1-1/2” sleeve and lock with a pin?

Too long ago to remember how they attached and the farm is 1300 miles away, so I can’t stop by to see if it’s still at the farm. They would have been replaceable if damaged.

I googled it and it comes up as chisel plow, so you can compare it to the blades on one.

Looks like a homemade pry bar for moving heavy things around. I bet it still works.

My father in law has something very similar (maybe just a tad shorter) that he uses when removing tires from a rim, or putting them on. Not sure if that's what it's made for, or if he just uses it for that task
