I was watching a video on using heat shrink wrap to cover a boat for the winter. The guy cut the wrap to size, and used a torch from Harbor Freight to shrink it. Then it dawned on me this same procedure could be used for top covering wood stacks. It seemed fairly simple and durable, could easily last a few years or more, if needed. Does anyone do this?

I do use some shrink plastic to cover my racks. However, I do not use any heat. I use it as is.

It's held up really well over the years.

Are you using the rolls of shrink wrap? If so, the widest I've seen is 18 inches. How are you covering the top to keep water out?
My stacks are two rows side by side, about 4 feet wide total.

It's stuff I've had for years, decades. Scrounged from my father-in-law.

He was in the marine business and had an amount of it folded up. I unfolded it, like a tarp, and cut it to size.

I picked some used stuff from the boat storage place… it’s really durable plastic. And the price is perfect… free :D

Meh, re-using old boat stuff is for hippies. I get each stack custom-wrapped by my local auto graphics guy…

My cuts are so tight and precise that the stack walls look smooth sheets of metal! Each of my stacks are EXACTLY 1.75 cords.

(In real life you’d look at my stacks and ask “are you gonna stack those piles of wood?”)
