how does a stihl 090 compare to an 880? An 880 sells for about that now.

I don't understand spending that much for a used 090 when it's 30 years old and an 880 is brand new. While maybe not quite as powerful, it's still a new saw.

 

Because its old school,not all plastic compared to the newer stuff.The 090 was one of the most powerful 1 man production saws ever built.Plus the old stuff wont have all those EPA restrictions on the carburetor etc.Only factory built saw that would match it in horsepower & torque was the McCulloch Super Pro 125.And the 090 was only 14cc's larger & weighed 7 pounds more.The 125 had the edge in RPM's also,in bigger stuff over 48" it was pretty much a tie.

 

Kinda like to get my hands on that 076, like a 090 better but out of range. purpose for a portable mill. opinions CA is a long way from WI ,
