IMG_20171006_6297.jpg Hawthorn, anyone ever burn it? Its pretty dry, this split read 21%.I picked up 3 carloads yesterday free off Craigslist, but I had to take his sticks & punky pieces too... IMG_20171006_072237751_HDR.jpg
And I had to leave 2 car loads in my brother's driveway to retrieve over the weekend. This is just one car load: IMG_20171006_16203.jpg So a lot of work, so I hope it's good burning wood. The homeowner gave me a wedge, too, I didn't have one of these! IMG_20171006_18608.jpg

Nice free load! I have never burned it so I cannot comment on that. Will you be adding it to the vault?

No, the vault is for oak that needs to dry for a few years. I'll be burning the hawthorn as soon as it gets cold, so I'll post a report. The little I've read online about it is that it's a lot like apple.

The homeowner said they dropped a lot of stuff, flowers, berries, and leaves. He cut down quite a few small trees in the back yard, and had been burning it in his fireplace. He's moving to England, though.

Good score, it's good firewood, I've cleared a fair bit from my garden here in the UK and it's a pretty dense firewood that burns well. :)

Total haul is this plus the shot with all the sticks in my car. Under the sticks there were 3 biggish logs. IMG_20171006_27159.jpg

Thanks, I'm feeling a bit more pumped up about it today. Yesterday felt like clearing someone's brush for free.

I didn't find any thorns, but the homeowner said he has one in his knee that shows up on x-rays. The Dr. Said it would work it's way out. It never did.

My wife got one poked into her on the top of her head. They often break off at their tip and it stays behind in the hole. She had to get it removed by the dr. I occasionally get them festering in my hands but can work it out with a needle after a day or two.

Not much to tell. Maybe a cord or two of saplings for 700 bucks. I guess it dosnt hurt to ask as long as you can sleep at night

I thought you might get a laugh out of it
