6C1732E7-3466-425A-9EFC-7EC5E00F9E18.jpeg has anyone tried this stuff? What your thoughts about it. Does it work or would I be better off pouring cheap whiskey on the stumps? Dealing with cottonwoods mostly nothing over 6-8” for now.

I've used something called Tordon that worked pretty good. Never used the stuff you posted.

In a different thread Aje1967 suggested roundup custom. Found lots of varieties of roundup but not that one. Found this in different section of a farm supply store. Only $10ish so thought I’d try it

isopropylamine salt = glyphosate, a herbicide
you can spray it on the sprouts as they emerge or you can pile it up around the living edge of the stump to poison the sprouts as they emerge.

glyphosate itself won't help with the deterioration of the stump beyond sucking the life out of it.
maybe the other 70% of the ingredients do.

Like you would with anti-freeze, make some effort to keep animals or children out of it.

    That's Gordon's stump KILLER product.
Maybe you want their stump REMOVER product which is mostly potassium nitrate which is another "salt".

I have a well on my property, plus an excavator. If you can try it safely, what harm can there be? Any amazon reviews?

Not to worried about getting rid of the stumps. Just don’t want any cottonwood bushes coming back

glyphosate should work - rain dissolves and flushes it away so if you can put tarpaper or some sort of rain hat over it that should improve efficacy and keep animals out of it. You could drill holes around the perimeter, fill them with the concentrate and cap the holes with wax to help with the washing away problem too.
It can also wash away in the rain and start killing everything where it washes off to - another good reason to cover it so it stays put.

I’ve used that same product on sycamore stumps. I had cut several sycamores one summer and the next spring there were suckers growing from each stumb. I drilled some 1/2” holes in stump and filled with Gordon’s. Within 2 weeks stumps were dead. I’d use again

Nope, but I saw a guy on YouTube re-blue a pistol with it. Have no idea what the chemicals are in it that caught his eye, but the gun looked good.

I have seen roundup linger in the soil for years. I can show you tomato plants impacted from it. I had them tested. At the surface of the soil, roundup is degraded, but when it runs into the soil, it lingers on and on. Frequent tilling will expose the soil to sunlight and help break down the toxin. I'm a VietNam vet. I was in DaNang for a year where the toxin agent orange was stored. While our barracks was in an area where there was tropical forest, not a blade of grass grew around our place. our area was frequently sprayed with something that keep everything green or crawling away. The spraying went on with no consideration to soldiers walking around the while the spraying went on. One of my friends died last year from agent orange exposure. I no longer have any desire to use herbicides anywhere near us. My lawn in full of weeds. I just say they are green and they get mowed just as the grass does. My point is to very guarded using any herbicide. Don't use it when there is any wind to drift the stuff. Have any exposed skin covered, they remove and wash your clothing after you have sprayed roundup.

Sandhillbilly if you dont want it to sprout new shoots, drive some copper roofing nails into the stump. Ive tried this and it works. I use them for work so didnt have to buy them and its environmentally friendly.

5304D4B3-724B-4FF9-BAA7-A464D4F31140.jpeg I have used some of it before; the only active ingredient is roundup. It was ok, but Tordon RTU works a lot better- just squirt it on the fresh cut stump. You can also get Tordon to mix into a sprayer if you are clearing a large area.

savemoney Sir-Thank you for your service and the info-I have used it but all kinds of cancer suits are being settled now concerning glyphosate...a recent award in CA-I get the generic stuff at Rural King and it works good applied by sprayer but heed his warnings and keep it off your skin

And thank you for your support. Have you had any more intruders. I noticed QVC has a special for the blink outdoor wireless security camera, 3 cameras and one hub, on sale today for $199. I already have the blink system and a couple more. I am on the end of a dead end road and don't want unwelcome visitors. I have signs posted that the property has surveillance. We have dogs and outside lights. No intruders. I never have lawn sales etc.

The whole hype against Roundup, i.e. glyphosate is media drive hysteria fueled by money grubbing lawyers. Round up is one of the safer herbicides out there.

My only beef with Monsanto was the price gouging they did while it was under patent. I remember paying $172/2.5 gallon jug, now generic can be had for $36.

The cancer risk is dependent on exposure though and so far the exposure level that currently exists for the consumer doesn't support being classified as a risk but rather as a concern or hazard.
Because there are data to scientifically support the hazard concern there will be lawsuits concerning [levels of] exposure.

There's a hazard risk of getting skin cancer from the sun. This risk is wholly dependent on exposure level. At a proper exposure level the sun is actually a healthy nutrition but you'd have to be living under a rock to not know the hazard risk of over-exposure.
