It is amazing how much daylight we have gained since Christmas! Where it was getting dark here around 5:30, tonight I could still see very well at 5:50. I can still see some at 6:05 but if there were no snow it would be dark.

We are only a few days over 6 weeks now until March! I am hoping for an early spring this year.

The saying I heard growing up was: “As the days get longer the cold grows stronger.” Some of our coldest weather comes in February. I remember the cold snap of 1996 when it hit -60f in Tower MN February 2nd. We were living 90 miles straight east of the official thermometer that measured that temperature, and ours was bottomed out at -45f that morning. Another time my brother came up ice fishing in March and I told him be prepared for well below zero weather in the morning and sure enough it was -20f the first morning we headed out for the day. All that being said, the longer days are sure nice.

I have always noticed that the days don't seem to get lighter in the morning after the solstice......that is until a couple of weeks later.

Maybe its always been cloudy conditions over the years? Don't know about that but it's been every year for decades that I've noticed it.

Maybe the poles are trying to shift?

I'll have to keep an eye on that the next time I cross the "land bridge"........

I believe sunrise is still getting later while the days are getting longer.
Tomorrow sunrises start to get early again. About 1 minute every 3 days.

I notice. I'm pretty regular with the time I leave for work and notice where the sun is at different spots on my commute. And I look forward to longer days each year!

I've noticed. Sunset was about 3:30 pm, now it is a bit past 4:30. I can actually see daylight after logging off from work - well, assuming I'm not putting in a 10 or 11 hour day (as I have most of this year already). Eh, been overcast/cloudy most of the month, so haven't had the shades/drapes open much anyway.

The change in daylight depends on latitude. Near the equator the days and nights are similar length all year round.

This chart shows how day length changes and the number of minutes of daylight lost or gained throughout a year.

Not sure I look forward to spring yet....havent had much snow yet, only a couple cold snaps. Always looking forward to the possibility of being snowed in for a couple days.

(Awake b.c. of the wind driven wet/frozen stuff on the window. Filled the wood stove.)

Supposed to get windy here, too.
25-35 with 50mph gusts. That should get the party started.

Yes I have noticed that , I just reset the timer on my outside lights as well ; another tell tale sign that things are going the other direction.
    No complaints here.

When I check weather mornings I check sunrise/sunset times.

That explains what I was noticing for a couple of decades then.

Don't worry though......congress will pass some sort of law to compensate for that too!

Move to Singapore, Bogota, Nairobi, Kuala Lumpur, etc.

Those places have sunrise at around 0700 all year round.

For example, in Singapore the longest day of the year is 12 hours 04 minutes long and the shortest day is 11 hours 55 minutes long. And the sun rises at around 0700 every day and sets every night at around 1900.
