The days are really getting longer now. It seems we've gained over an hour in the afternoon now. A short time ago it got dark shortly after 5:00 and now it is getting dark here between 6:15 and 6:30. Sweet! It won't be too long now before this gets the average temperature going up.

When we "spring forward", it'll get dark even later.

Wish we could bypass that spring forward crap.

Yes, us vitamin D deficient yoopers sure have noticed it here! But on the same subject, remember that in December it was usually cloudy (snow cloudy) here so it got dark even earlier. Now, it seems that the sun is more commonly out at sunset time.

I have, I'm grateful! Also we've had snow on the ground for a few days now, the house has been cheerful and bright with the sun and snow reflection for a few days now too :)

That happens every year in December and most of January. And my doctor just told me I am deficient in D and iron.

Even getting out in the non-sun daylight will provide some "D" production. I've not been real good at doing that this winter.

Staying out of hospitals goes a long ways too on these things.

I wish we could bypass the fall back crap. I like the extra light in the evening.

But I get what you’re saying. I visited my sister out in Michigan a few years ago at Christmas time and couldn’t believe how light it stayed in the evening and how dark it stayed in the morning. I didn’t enjoy that.

I guess that is a result of MI being on the western side of the EST time zone and here in CT we are on the eastern side of it.

You are right and yes, there is a big difference between you and I. We notice it every time we go east. Of course we don't have to go far to be into the Central time zone either. I've lived really close to the time line a couple times and that can get interesting when you have to cross the line doing business.

Seed and tree catalogs came a week or so ago. Same time every year. You can set your watch to it.
Gives me a sinking feeling every year when they come as that tells me I only have about 8 weeks to prep for the spring rush and busy season.

Reminds me of "The Eye of God ",,,,,, a year or 2 after I built my place one day after work in FebruaryI was standing in my living room window after I got home from work looking out and noticed a strange indentation in the snow and quite long . At first I thought it was where a hawk or owl had swooped down and snagged a bird out of the snow. I went outside to check it out and for the life of me couldn't figure it out ( at this time of day it was cloudy and no reflection was present ). Wasn't a bird of prey and no tracks of another critter anywhere around ,,, just these long indentations in the snow . Years past and it would always appear in February. I was literally dumbfounded !!!! Then one sunny day I was home all day and happened to look out the living room window and saw this bright eye shape with fish tails on the ends ,, reflection in the snow. I ran out to see WTH was causing it. Somehow ,,,, I'm guessing a defect in the glass of my kitchen window creates this heated reflection for about 3-4 weeks around the end of January into February on sunny days for a few hours a day and as the earth moves this reflection travels across the snow and melts a 1-2" deep trail across my yard. I named it " the eye of God" because it had me bewildered for so long and kinda still does. You can't see the reflection in the glass from any angle unless you get down on the ground in its path and look directly up at the window. For days I would walk around that trail to the south trying to block the "Rays" to figure out where it was coming from. Then one day I held my hand in front of it to figure out where it was coming from. It was warm ,, like 80 degrees warm on a day well below freezing.
Ended up coming from the kitchen window to the north.
I'll see if I can find pics of it.

    Sounds Beautiful!

We had a large orb weaver on porch at previous home, watched it for a couple months, with the porch light on at night, her web mesmerized me, beautiful and so perfect/symmetrical.

Yes I have noticed and was thinking about it just a couple of days ago. Although I leave for work (and get there) way before sunrise - at least I leave before sunset now!

5:30 here instead of 4:15 for last call bringing wood in without a flashlight or full moon
