So, I bought a Pf 100 and a amazing heat pellet boiler for 250$. After months of pros and cons I decided to install the PF 100.
I’ve been doing a lot of reading on the internet and came across this forum. I seen a forum on here about the PF 100 and cannot find it anymore. There’s a lot of forums here. Back to the furnace. Was reading about the ESP probe, it is black in color(analog), should I get a red (digital) why I am commissioning this furnace? Or as long as the ESP probe is good, leave it?
I bought this not knowing much about them, the previous owner is great in telling me anything he can. The reason why he sold it as the furnace was not working well. When I started installing it, I found the furnace very very dirty. Like the 3rd pass was plugged with ash. Is it possible that the auger would not run because of ESP probe being so dirty?
Last question, I would like to do a dry run on furnace. If I start furnace in test mode will it do all tests with no pellets?
    Thanks

You can use the black wire probe.....don't switch to the red unless you are sure your curcuitboard is adjustable to do so (I don't know how old that PF100 is). Being filthy would definitely alter performance, but if the ESP was bad, you'd get a blinking light error.....if the status light is solid, it should be ok. The furnace SHOULD be tested without pellets first.

I’ll get my serial number and post it. I’m guessing about 10 years old. I’ll run it and test mode and hope I get a solid red light!
    Great

Hey lousy weather. Could you Answer a couple quick questions for me.
When I plugged the ESP cord onto board, there was no specific way. Can you plug the chord on a wrong way?
There was no “boss” on board, you can flip the chord around.
Next thing, the fire brick is broke in half. Is it fine or should I get a new one?
I put a picture up of serial number. The number looks like 2991.
    Thanks

sounds like the receptacle that the ESP plugged into is missing...it can come off, and does come off if someone just pulls it, rather than depress the tab and pull it. You shouldn't need it as long as both prongs make contact. Is it 3 blinking? (status light)
    broken brick? replace it
I cant tell from the serial number how old it is, but its an older unit.....they upgraded to a PF120 a few years before production ceased......Harman is the only one who can tell you when it was made.

I’m not sure about the status light as I found a loose wire(yellow) and need to fix it first. The yellow wire connects to the board, and I have to come up with a way to fix it.
There is a manufacturers date stamped on it, January 2006.
When I get wire fixed I’ll let u know status light.
    Thanks very much
