    Hello

Time for a Harman Auger upgrade! ! !

The auger was jammed solid. Luckily I got the set screw out since it was easily accessible with a socket wrench. However the auger motor shaft was so bound up and wedged into the base of the auger, when pulling the auger off, the shaft snapped!

The sealed auger bearing in the old auger did have resistance when I spinned it and I could feel a flat spot. So a new updated auger will make the stove work like new!

    My question is:
Why are all the new Harman Augers open at the end with a slot?

(Is it so the auger does not heat up as much and runs cooler and lasts longer?)

I bet he sold it to me because the new augers are out of stock!

I found this Older style Harman Auger on this site with the slot. I do like it better than the new Auger and it does fit fine. The slot does hold the corn stirrer rod for the PC-45.

that solid-ended auger was discontinued years ago.......im guessing here, but a least 5 years ago......and are totally unavailable from Harman anymore.......you might find some old ones still in stock at some retailer maybe.........this auger is now in virtually all Harman units......it originally appeared in the old PC45 in its inception, then started appearing in all the pellet stoves. Unfortunately, the PC45 is scheduled for discontinuance, as well as the p38.......I think after August they wont be produced anymore, give or take a month........

How hard is it to replace the auger? Are there any instructions on line?

The tip of my auger cracked off some time ago, it was always rather odd, never had that sharp angle of what is pictured, nor was it as thick on the end tip. The auger tip was thinned out about 10-15 mm from the end, the tip was always sharp to the touch, it cracked right where the thinning started. The stove works but I rather put in a new auger.

depends on the model of stove......its not too tough...have to remove the auger retainer in the rear by taking out the two bolts, might need to tap the auger out from the front.......is it a chain drive Accentra?
