It's exactly what the title suggests? I have a bunch of signs that I want to hang on my basement/block wall? What's the best way.

I could drill into the mortar lines and use small nails? I thought that may be best. The wife suggested Liquid nails . I told her that was a great idea, but... No.

I have more signs coming. . And a bunch of Nascar License plates that I want to hang.

Thanks for any help in advance. :)

I'm interested in this also if there is a clean and easy way to do this. With these stone walls I can make a damm mess of chit pretty fast.

I just bought a caulking tube of heavy duty liquid nails that I am trying out on a plastered stone wall in the attic. I will be testing that on Friday.

Will it stick to mortar and stone? How strong is it and could it hold a hook for frames?

The 3M Command Adhesive Products I think would work for your painted cinder block.
There is a lot of options for types of hooks
When you are ready to take down or move what you hang up , they come off cleanly - no nail holes, cracked plaster or sticky residue

Looks like all of the stuff you want to hang is light.. So adhesives or double sided tape should work. If you wanted to hang something heavier, i'd drill into the block with a masonry bit, pound a wooden dowel into the hole, saw it off flush with the wall and then pound a nail into the middle of the dowel. Would require some accurate measurement beforehand to ensure that you're drilling in the right place. Additionally, if you drill through the block wall, you'd need some construction adhesive to keep the dowel from pushing through.

You are loosing massive amount of heat thru the exposed block walls. My suggestion is to frame them in, insulate, hang drywall and finish, repaint and the use thumb tacks to secure your signs.
sorry could not resist. 3M foam tape.

Drill then put in masonry or plastic anchors and screw in them. I do kike the dowel idea though.

There's special putty for hanging posters. I remember it from grade school. Our school had painted block walls and the teachers would use this putty (sticky tack?) to hang all the stuff on the walls. It is pretty stout stuff and I'm sure it would hold up metal signs if you are generous with the application.

    Don't drill those walls...

If I drilled, it was gonna be 1/16" holes, about an 1/8"-3/16" deep and only into the mortar lines. I have some super small nails I just just gonna stick in them.

Think I will try the 3M sticky tabs 1st. These signs are pretty thin and light.

The 2 posters are going under the glass top of the bar. :) But the tacky stuff still might work for the smaller signs.

Tapcon masonry screws...I believe they make them that cut their own threads now!

I had thought about the fishing line thing, or hanging them from the ceiling like old school picture moulding but did not mention it cause I thought you might think it was ghetto!

I think the sticky stuff is called Blue Tack. It looks like chewing gum but works quite well especially for posters.

Hung a bunch of stuff(heavy plaques, posters, frames etc) at work after we had the building repainted this summer with the 3m command Velcro strips they have held up fine on drywall - not sure on cinder block. Just be sure to clean both surfaces with denatured alcohol -bulk sized medium duty strips are available online for reasonable money.
Anything really heavy I'd use some tapcons

Tapcons and be done with it. If the tapcon doesn't bite nice and tight cut an inch or so off a plastic wire tie and put that in the hole then the tapcon -- nice and tight and you don't have to worry about it failing.
