Guess the weight of this red oak round. 16” long right around 27” in diameter. Tree was cut down about a month ago. This log was cut from a 6 foot section from when it was first cut.
volume = diameter/2 squared times pi times length, all in feet. Northern red oak weighs around 60 lb per cubic foot, green/wet. (27"/2/12)**2 x 3.14 x 16"/12 x 60 lb/cubic foot = 318 pounds, adjusting for a little drying, 300 pounds.
