It breaks my heart but guys and gals, we have to cancel the GTG this year. I hope this gives enough time for people to change any plans they may have made.

I suppose here some reasoning should be made. Okay, I need some surgery bad and the time is close. However there is also the virus scare and some won't want to travel. In addition, the timing of the surgery has been compromised a bit and we don't have a hard date. It could even end up to be set for the week of the GTG. It could end up later simply because of the virus problem. We even found out this morning that one doctor in Saginaw has tested positive for the virus. This could have far reaching effects. Then there has to be the question of whether or not Judy and I feel comfortable enough to be in the hospital at this time or even if there will be room if enough people become sick. We may have to put it off until summer or fall. I hope not because I am in terrific pain but if we have to wait, we'll wait.

    Thank you for understanding.

I know how much you enjoy this GTG Dennis, you are doing an honorable thing though. Hopefully you can get your surgery done in a reasonable and safe time.

Thank you. If we have to wait until summer for the surgery, it will be a test for sure but we'll do what we have to do. I'd hate to take up a hospital bed if someone else needed it worse than I.

We can live with pain to a point. With this virus going on, vulnerable people need some more in depth hospitalization. Hospitals are apt to be pretty full sooner than later as this runs it’s coarse. Wife does PT, lots of the doctors are cutting back on voluntary procedures and keeping to urgent cases for now. Going to be worse before it gets better.

77 years old, in pain and needing surgery and you don’t want to take a hospital bed from someone that may need it more. You sir are a gentleman and hard core. You have my admiration and respect.

Totally understand Dennis. Right now your health and Judy's is priority. I was sad that we weren't going to make it this spring as I had a great time last year. Who knows maybe we will be able to make it later on.

    Sorry to hear this Dennis.

    But hopefully for the best.

I hope they may be able to schedule your surgery if it becomes necessity.

I wouldn't want to be in a hospital any time soon, to be sure.

I wish you and Judy the very best.
    Take care of yourselves.

You've got the 3 yr plan down-pat so we all know you'll be warm this winter.

As other said, Sorry to hear this Dennis. Not because it’s sad for us to not be able to “get together”, but sad that you’re experiencing struggles and extra ones at that. I will be praying for comfort, wisdom for you, Judy, and the docs. Will your neighbor be ok without some help for wood? I’m not very close, but I’m sure some guys could still make a day of it to cut and split some wood for him if needed. Maybe he can borrow a little of yours and we can make it right once this and your medical needs all get to be in the past.
    Take care
    Joel

Yeah, I don't think I'd want to be in a hospital any time soon either.
They tend to be full of sick people.

Good luck Dennis Backwoods Savage ... if you decide to wait until "things" calm down, I hope you can find some pain relief.

Chaz, for sure as we've stated many times, this is the type of thing people need to do so that if something like this or any other terrible thing, they are covered and can keep warm without paying the gas man.

Thank you Joel. I've discussed this situation (the neighbor) with a few guys already. The best scenario is that I get the surgery done and the recovery (6 months I'm told) and then I can cut the wood for the neighbor. I looked at his wood shed last week and saw that he has really not burned a lot this winter so he will have a good amount left over. That will help. Also if I do it I can do a little at a time and it would be good for me. And yes, if worse comes to worse, we have enough wood so we can supply him with some if necessary. Another plan is for a few of the guys who live near us to come for a day maybe in the fall or winter to do the cutting. It would be similar to what they did for me a few years ago when some guys came to help out just a couple days after I got home from the hospital (gall bladder burst).

Here is a great group of guys:

Hope you get relief sooner rather than later Dennis. I’m sure you will but keep us posted.
