Last week I went to the antique store. They had a couple small hatchets but this one caught my eye. I read the mark and was thrilled to see it said GRIFFITH, you see that is my father's last name. Not only did it come with a sweet name, it felt gooder in hand as well. So here it is, my new toy! I am going to do a little restoration slash tune up. I plan on giving the handle, which has some checking but really straight grain, a light sanding and than a bath in boiled linseed oil. Then it will get ground, filed, an sharpened. Lastly, a leather sheath to protect it's edge. Stay tuned for pics of the progress. This will be a fine little camp axe and kindling chopper.
