worried about if my timber clear cutting causing cleanup and brush issued getting over my head, I bit the bullet my tractor dealer has the grapple on hand, but had to order the Third Function control. I expect it will be the same as when you install a loader- always glad you bought it once you start using it. That guy Tractor Mike on y-tube mentioned his dealership sold a bunch after a huge storm in his area. He figured a lot would turn up on market place and Craiglist, after everyone cleaned up their messes. Never saw them. Assumes the buyers found how handy they are and kept them. Ah well, that is just that much less from the timber sales that I have to pay taxes on.
You will love it, especially for cleaning up tops and brush. Unless we're bucking logs on the woodyard or moving pallets/totes with the forks, our grapple stays on the tractor
Not only are grapples great for logs and brush, but they also work quite well for many other jobs....like building a retaining wall with 1,000+ lb. boulders.
You will NOT regret it! Actually they are kind of fun to use and handy for other things. Removed a fence for one friend, rocks for another. Pulled my well pump......
Sirchopsalot Woodsnwoods Screwloose Question. The unit in stock is slightly longer than another that sells well. It could be a few weeks bofore he gets more. He said the grapple in stock weighs 150 lbs more. amy i giving up a it of lift capacity? Should i get the narrower unit? I think. Its six feet and the in stock is a few inches wider
Thats a decent size tractor isn't it. I have a small Massey 1723 series and put a grapple on it and have zero issues. Sure it takes some of the lifting capacity just like everything else you put on it. Max Capacity; minus the weight of the implement gives you the weight of what it could lift. I think mine weighs around 250 lbs
I agree with the others. You will wonder how you ever got along without it . So many uses beyond wood ! Like steel beams lol
Your profile signature said Massey 2605, of which, the popular loader choice is the 911X. 60HP is a fair shake bigger than a 2605 though. The 2605 is like 30-35 hp.
We brought home the tractor with its new grapple. Done a little cleanup around some treetops i have already been cutting on. Getting used to maneuvering, and the weight differential. tomorrow i will hit the log yard. Also bought a new Stihl MS271 as a backup, and one of those Harbor Freight hatchets that has good reviews.
