Springfield Arms model 53 A. Hasn't been fire for 40 years, until today. Dad cleaned it previously but I wanted to give it a cleaning too before it was fired. Gave it a good overnight soak with some hoppe's, pulled some patches and finished it up with some ballistol. I did did quite a bit more guns out so it was worth the time. After the first round I put the bore snake down it again and had a tough time getting it through again. Wish I would have thought to put another patch through because I bet the concussion knocked something more loose. Anyway here's a pic.
Nice little single-shot Grizz...not a high dollar rifle, but when it came from Grandpa it is priceless
Sweet little gun! Even better that it has some personal history. Both of my grandpa's had their guns stolen, one from a break-in, and the other from a "friend" of his who just decided one day to take his guns out of the closet, and he wouldn't call the police on her when he found out. I shoot more single shots now then ever, it helps slow you down with bullets being so hard to find for them!
I got my great grandads old Ithaca 37 12 gauge and his Stevens (I believe) semi auto .22. Wouldn't trade either one for all the money in the world.
This one is going back over to Dad's once I get done with my work with it, but I thought you would all enjoy seeing it.
