Couldn't stand it any longer, I ordered one from ebay. New in package, $21 delivered. I did a little research on the different models. The general consensus seemed to be- the older the better. The 109 looks old.?? I'm sure all the models are fine. Anyway, looking forward to trying it out
Nice! I heard the older ones were made of better metal, but I couldn't find one when I bought mine. I got the G-106B and paid at least $10 more. Takes a bit of getting used to - the other file guides I had used all set the height of the file for me; you have to set it yourself with the granberg. But the problems I had with the other ones was maintaining a consistent angle, and keeping all the teeth the same length - and the granberg helps you with both. I think a fully jointed chain should wear better, and stay sharper longer, because the can teeth work together more. At least, that's my pseudo-scientific theory.... Enjoy!
It came in as advertised. A new File N Guide in an old package. The back was white and has yellowed out. It looks 20 years old. Very happy, can't wait to try it out
Nice! Looks like that one has a metal stop knob - the new model uses a plastic one, which is about the only fault I've found with it. I've worn some flat spots in mine from pressing too hard against it. When I first started using it, sometimes it was hard for me to tell if I was hitting the stop, or I was just getting a clean stroke. Let us know what you think after you've sharpened a chain with it!
