***UPDATE*** On second thought, I'm thinking this might be a 30"???

Howdy folks. As seems to happen too often I recently purchased a small package deal of items just to get a chainsaw since the seller didn't want to separate everything.

One of the items is a Granberg Alaskan G-776, MK III. I have no use for this, so I'd like to find it a new home. I know very little about these other than what I've rustled up online and through some inquiries since receiving it. From what I can tell it is 100% complete and in good usable condition other than being a little dirty. I did some superficial cleaning to show condition, but it's certainly not spit-shined.

I'm not certain what size this mill is. The outside rails measure 30", but even if the clamp arms are spaced out completely you couldn't cut a 30" wide slab. Does that mean its a 24", or doe the rails mean its a 30"? If anyone knows better please enlighten me.

Now, regarding price. I looked around a bit and see that the MSRP on these is $235. Prices on eBay are all over the board which isn't much help. So, I'm asking $100 + the actual cost of shipping (and I'm willing to ship USPS, UPS or FedEx, whichever is the most economical). I like to think I'm a pretty easy guy to deal with, so if that price is out of line let me know. I'm not looking for top dollar, but rather just something that's fair for me and the buyer. Thanks!

I'm interested in getting into this. However, I know nothing about getting started. Can anyone tell me what bar you need for this? I have my 441cm, ho oiler, and every available bar size Stihl makes between 14" & 36", excluding 32".

Anybody have some info that could help us see if this is a fit?

In trying to determine the actual size of this mill I found some pretty good info on the Granberg website in the FAQ section. See HERE.

This might answer your question though (from the website):

What size lumber mill attachment do I need?
How big are your trees? How wide of a board do you want to cut? These are questions only you can answer. Granberg's Alaskan Mark III Chainsaw Mill comes in eight normally stocked sizes; 24, 30, 36, 48, 56, 60, 72 and 84 inches long, and all of them will clamp on any size chain saw bar (except one shorter than 5 inches and some narrow bars). When attaching the Mark III chainsaw mill to your chain saw, you will lose 2 to 6 inches of width of cut depending on which is shorter, your bar or the mill. Clamping a 30 inch Mark III chainsaw mill to a 28 inch bar, will give you an approximate 24 inch width of cut. The optimum configuration would be to have a chainsaw mill the same length as your chain saw bar.

Now that I'm reading that again, I'm starting to think mine is a 30" given that's the overall length, not the effective cutting length?

It's a 30". It will give about 27" max cut width.

As for what size bar a 32" without spikes on the saw will max it out. A 34" will do it without removing spikes. A 441 would probably do fine with a 28" cutting maybe 20" wide max. I use a ported 046 for cut in up to 20" and after that I went to a 90cc or 120cc saw.
