Good load of farwood. Smaller rounds are definitely heat friendly. Im liking the yellow splits i see.
Mulberry, maple, locust and a few basswood, in the split load. Basswood is not great firewood but it is flammable.
True. I use basswood mixed in with bundle wood I sell. Same for cottonwood or tulip when I have it. I like the fast drying.
I have given a few pieces (people around here tend to call it Linden) of basswood to a couple of friends who are carvers. I tried to make a bowl with it once but the grain was unremarkable, though easy on the tools for sure
I last scored some in September. I have some of the rounds for sale on FBM with minimal interest. The other wood from that tree has been split, stacked, dried, bundled and sold. Im thinking another month and its their turn to be firewood.
If you really want some more weeds basswood, I've got a few more of them I'd like cut down. I have hauled away three heaping truckloads so far this summer. I did keep the larger rounds for the fire pit-only because I grew tired of hauling the stuff away! Can't stand the stuff.............almost as bad as willow!
LOL! I appreciate the offer. I don't come across it often so take it when I get it although I turned some down a couple weekends ago as it was a yard tree and not many decent rounds. It gets mixed in with bundles.
I'd help you out getting rid of the weeds if I was closer. I like the little bit I have burnt, it dries quickly and good for quick hot starting fires. It does disappear fast in the fire though.
Same here. I won't go out of my way for it, but the last could of trees feel across my ATV trail though the woods. They were perfect rounds, so they became firewood. Greg nice work! When is hot like this, I didn't even want to look at firewood. Heck I have enough trouble getting the urge to wash/ wax whatever on the boat that I'm going to use the next day.
