Even though it's been in the mid-80s and muggy af, I have been toiling in anticipation of cooler days ahead.

The pallet nearest the opening is my Poplar stack, and the inner-most pallet holds the Mulberry, Ash, Hackberry, and Oak that I gathered last winter from a friend's farm nearby that was felled back in 2013. Between the two stacks, I have just about a cord...I figure this system will help me gauge my seasonal demand, since this is my first year burning.

Ready to drop the match on the first fire whenever Mother Nature decides to get realistic. Had my first fire last fall on the 8th of October. So far, looks like the end of the month....maybe.

Thanks man...yeah, I posted one of them in my wood stove installation thread a couple of months back. I started with a Poplar Holz Hausen out by my burn pit, but I made it too small in diameter so it didn't turn out very well. I buck my rounds at 18", so it seems like a 12' diameter Hausen is perfect for a tight stack that is easy to keep canted inward. It doesn't seem like any more work than a regular stack, and it's super stable. I think it looks pretty cool as well!

Yup, she came to us this past December after the former owner could not devote enough time and attention to her. In April we found out she was positive for Lyme disease. After 2 heavy doses ($$$$$$$$) of anti-biotic treatment we have recently found out she in total remission and doing just great.

It seemed like we went from summer straight to winter here so it is good to be ready. Nice job.
