Hello all, I hit the jackpot today! A truck load of Copper Beech dumped @ my home for freeeeeeeeeeeee! We all like freebies I got the motherload up and off the ground. Should I cover with a tarp or leave exposed? Not sure when I'm going to find the time to cut and split, but hoping to start in October/November. Cheers, Copper Bob
LOL! Ditch the cat and get that wood split and stacked. Just kidding of course. Nice score!! It will be just fine until you can make time to process it.
Thanks for the great advice... I'm new to all this wood drying, stashing, splitting, hoarding, chopping, splitting 'n burnin.' BB
I've always admired copper beeches. There's not many around, but those I've seen are huge! They must have been in vouge as an ornamental about 100 years ago. What was wrong with yours, that resulted in a date with the saw?
Free and delivered is where it's at! Only way it could've been better is if it was split and stacked for ya. Congrats on the score! Beech tends to turn pretty quickly here if left on the ground, so I'd say you did well to elevate it. Should be fine for quite a while in that state.
Hi MW, I'm unsure as to why the CB was 'Terminated' but like you I have admiration for the tree and the beautiful display of colour it produces. I will ask the arborist for more info Cheers, BB
The tree was felled due to fungal infestation. I've been told there is another load in the offing. Do I add to the stash or let it slide?? Too good to pass up? Remember... I'm new to all this Cheers, BB
