I have just been salvaging wood that came down in that January snow storm that closed down I95. Lots of trees down around the farm.
d Yes sir. Cleaning up the pole barn and leveling the floor and making bases I can move with the skid steer have been taking up more time than the sawmill. Been busy with the farm and work. Been in and out just lurking some.
Nice! My dad, brothers and I have been sawing logs on woodmizers since '90 and have cut over 3 million board feet to date. We started with an LT30 manual, then a '93 LT40 hydraulic, then a '98 LT40 super hydraulic, still running that mill, plus an LT40 manual. With the price of lumber today, we are getting more backed up every day! it's a great way to make a few extra bucks, and "beat the system" at the same time! Have fun, buddy!!
I have been cutting a bunch of cedar. 1 because a ton came down. 2 I need 1x4’s for something I make and sell. And it has been hard for me to get from the local small sawyers without feeling like I was pulling teeth.
Score, I put my outdoor stacks on pallets. Old sources of pallets have dried up. I scored a big supply of heavy duty oak stone pallets in 2014 and they lasted for 8 years. A large local cabinet shop is still giving them away and they also had 3 heavy duty 8 foot by 36" skids that I could stack and sticker lumber on so they went in the truck as well. Gonna check back there on occasion.
Pretty much considered noxious weeds around here. When ever there is a grass fire around here the standing joke is “ just be sure you don’t put out any cedar trees”
