Last March I went to an eye specialist. They don't sell glasses but did write a prescription. I asked where they thought was a good place to get glasses as I was a bit disappointed with the eye doctor I had been seeing. Got a good reference. I went to that place 3 times and finally got some frames ordered. Seems the ones I wanted was not in stock. So, yesterday I received a call that the frames are there and please give them a call. Now is this customer service or not? Ordered in March. Received a call in June. I guess 3 months is really not a long time to wait when your eyes are needing new glasses.... I know what I am going to do but how would you handle this? One clue: I did get new glasses in March or early April but it was not from them.
I've gotten my last 2 pair from Wally's, and it only takes about a week before I get a call to come get 'em. Downstate, I had very gooder ins. ,and I still had to pay about $300/pair. Nuttin' fancy either....no gold plating or diamond encrustations.
I got my prescription with all the measurement and went on line. I got the digital progressive lenses with transition (turns dark in the sun) scratch resistance. I ordered them on line for $114. Very nice frame with them. Would have cost over $400 at the retail outlet. I'm wearing them without a problem. I got another pair from the VA for free. Just as good. I need to have two pair because I misplace them too often.
Sounds like my gastro dr. I had an endoscopy last year. They called and asked when I was going to come in for a follow up colonoscopy. I said I had an endoscopy last time is their a reason for a different test. The lady seemed perplexed and asked my age. I replied 33. She said she would have to call me back. No call since. I keep forgetting to call them back to ask about it. Glad when I woke up I didn't have a chitty taste in my mouth. Sorry I couldn't resist.
That's what I usually do too, but I now leave out the scratch resistant stuff because it.....scratches. WTH? Wally charges $56, I think, for the exam, so that $114 isn't bad. I made the mistake of not doing progressive this last pair (trying to save money), and could kick myself. Can't see chit. They want $144 for new lenses with that stuff added using my fairly new frames.
I got mine at wally's too, just the other day actually. The last glasses I got were over $500. The first time the glasses broke, they tried to give me the runaround and get me to get new glasses. They broke again last week. I soldered them myself this time and went to wally's. The eye Dr. was kind of creepy, but he knew what he was doing. Ended up getting the same style glasses I have now in titanium frames, $325 for everything. I should get them this week.
Have a Sears near by, gonna give them a try for eye exam & glasses. Heard $150 for 2 pair. We'll see.
It had been a long time since I'd tried a "cheap" place for glasses and yes, I tried Wally's. Glasses were cheap alright but not as cheap as I expected. But, same as all the other places I've tried over the years. Had to return them as they were worse than the old pair I'd been wearing. Some folks seem to get by with these places but it seems I can't. Perhaps it has something to do with me having only one good eye or something like that but it get really old having to re-order so for the extra hundred, I get glasses that allow me to see properly. I remember one time going to a place and re-ordering 3 times and then I gave up. Any time you have to re-order, it usually turns out bad. EDIT: I did get new glasses but not at the place mentioned and have had them about 3 months.
Yep, when ya' gotta' see, ya' gotta' see. I've been lucky with the Wally World glasses, and the most recent problems were my own fault. I should know better, since I've been wearing glasses for almost 50 years.
I have to have my retinas examined every 6 months, and they always do an eye exam as well. The last 2 times I took the prescription and ordered from Coastal.com for ~~$30. Works well for how little I wear them. There are a couple other online places for glasses too.
My brother and SIL both buy those "reading glasses" at the drug store or wherever, and are constantly losing/breaking them. They both NEED prescription glasses, but vanity is a curious thing.....
Right, but I do take them off, often without thinking, then don't recall where. I now have two good pair that are either on my desk or bedside stand. I was glad to be able to a pair on line at about a fourth of the price and with good quality. I also get some of those lens cleaning wipes and leave them in different places. Hate dirty lenses and don't want to mess them up by cleaning them with the wrong stuff.
