    Bloody cold here today and quickly realized that I am in no shape to be splittin by hand even with the mighty fiskars. Learned a couple new tricks today...hope you all have a happy new year.

    Cold enough that I had to put heat to the tank to keep the pump motor from stalling in the beginning but not as bad as you guys up North. I do like that I dont have to worry about the splitter overheating. I did come up with a new process that seems a lot easier and keeps stuff from getting lost in the snow. I've always done big batches thinking it was more efficient. Now one log gets cut, as many rounds as can be rolled into the loader get moved to the splitter and then get stacked on the way back to the log pile. Doing a layout of the log eliminates cookies, doing one log at a time means the loader can be used as a log roller, the loader also does all the lifting and gets used as a log lift and work table at the splitter and I can stop at any time without everything laying around and ultimately buried in the snow. Who says you cant teach an old dog new tricks:yes:
