Got my taxes done and am getting a fair amount of money back, cut some firewood this afternoon with some dead elm that I split and am finishing drying in front of the wood stove to burn in a couple days, and also got a 30 pack of red dog at the local Mini mart for $12.99!

I havent seen Red Dog in forever... Can't really say I have gone looking for it but it used to be well advertised.

I'd say you had a good day just to get to cut wood. Jealous of that alone.

Nice bucks. Not too many like that on this side of the lake. Plenty of year and a half old 6 pointers, though.

I don't look for it either, didn't even know they still made the stuff but for $12.99 a 30 pack I had to bring it home.

    Thanks,
the deer hunting around these parts has not been as good as years ago. Not many deer around since the DNR had alot of the doe killed off because of CWD. There are some nice bucks taken every year now though. Lots of hunts without even seeing a thing nowdays.

It's really gone downhill over here, too. Too many doe permits, too many coyotes, EHD, and the list goes on. I've never seen a deer in the woods like the ones on your wall, though. How's that Red Dog tastin'?

I used to get red dog and icehouse as " premium beer" for our house partys in Stevens Point in the late 90's. It was a premium beer over the Milwaukee's beast or worse at the rest of the house partys. I haven't seen red dog in a good decade. I wonder if they are bringing it back?

I've been letting does and small bucks go the last few years at my hunting land up north. I'm hoping it pays off in nice bucks in the coming seasons.

Taxes done with money coming back, worked on your wood stash and you found some good brew at the mi I mart. I'd say that's an incredible day! Did you play the lottery too?

I'll trade you a cord of wood for each buck!

We still have a good number of deer here although not as many as a few years back. However, we did need to do some thinning and a little needs to be done annually. Trouble is, some folks don't know when to stop. It is really funny when people talk about how they sometimes go days without any deer sighting or maybe 1 or 2 deer seen on opening day. Yet, they and some friends will shoot any doe they see...then wonder why they don't have many deer. Hum... Just takes a little thought and reasoning.

They usually don't get too big here but some get decent. The one on the left is this year's buck.
