We have thought about getting one for a year or more. Well one fell into my lap. I was given my step dad's father's when he died. It's an electric EzGo. That's all I know till I pick it up in a few weeks. Is garage kept and just used in his like 1/6 acre lot.

My plan is to lift it and put offroad tires on it. To use it for joyride in around town and to have a hunting buggy and to move around the farm when there.

I know about loss of torque with larger tires etc and been reading on buggies gone wild about upgrades to them etc.
I have a freind who has a 22" set of tires I can try before I buy a set incase I can't live with the torque loss and or don't want to do new controllers etc right away to correct for it. If it's unacceptable I will probably get 20" knobbies.

So who here has one and what have you done to it and don't forget the :ithappened::banana:

I've got a 95 Yamaha G14 gas. Nothing special yet but I traded it for work so the price was right.

Check buggies unlimited for lifts and parts. I can supply manuals for your cart if you need them.

This cart is a twin of mine from the same fleet that I put a lift and tires on for a friend. Also did a clutch kit at the same time.

Not likely that you'll get either the 20" or 22" tires under the cart without offset wheels. I've got an EZ-GO at the house for engine work and the 18" look to be all that will fit stock.

Yea I'm gonna buy offset rims with tires. There is huge refurbishers down in the augusta area with ezgo and CC factories here. You can get smoking deals at them...basically get the rims free for what online people charge just for the tires. I'm talking sTeel here but even aftermarket wheels are cheaper.

Carts unlimited looks to be the cheapest place for cables and contollers and such. Great guy on BGW as a sponsor too.

There is a golf cart custom place I n greenville I will check out this weekend. They sell a lot on ebay. Steeleng. I will go to the store this weekend and see the lifts and wheels and tires they have.

Mine is still stock, hope to change that soon, with 18" tires and top speed is around 15MPH. The one I lifted got the Jake's 7" lift and I think those tires were 25". With the clutch kit it had tons of pulling power throughout the RPM range and went closer to 20 I think. Been a few years though.

When he ordered the lift kit he asked for the largest mud tires that would fit and not rub. He was happy with it and it did much better than we thought it could in the woods and mud.

It is absolutely amazing the punishment a cart will take for years on end. I am personally responsible for the flogging of several twin cyl gas EZ-Go's. He he he.

My dad uses an electric one around the mobile home park where he lives. He is constantly having battery and charger problems with it.

I would tell him to get a DPI charger. From what I am reading there the best. Will float to always keep them up.

I also learned that deep cycle batteries require a break in period from BGW and carts unlimited. Supposedly they only give up to 80% at first . You need to have like 20 cycles where you discharge them 25% or 75% life left then full charge them before they get their total output life.

I have never don't this with any deep cycle for the boats in the past.

Might depend on how old the cart is. Newer obviously better as motors have become more sophisticated.

Some of the newer elec. carts will climb a 1:1 slope (45 degrees) with optimal conditions i.e. dry asphalt path.

Yea and the new ones will vary the power used to the motor. Old school tech resistor carts used the same power at a crawl or wide open. They just burned itbup as heat in the resistor could at slow speed

My Dad works for the local CC dealer.

We personally own a CC XRT900.
    It's been a great cart.

You can modify electric ones to do standing wheelies, go 30+mph, and spin the tires on concrete.
