The death toll now stands at 70 in the wake of torrential rains and the resulting flooding in Texas. By far the greatest number of fatalities occurred in Kerr County, where 59 people are believed to be dead, according to officials, including 21 children. In Travis County, four people are believed dead, with three dead in Burnet County, two in Kendall County, and one death each reported in Tom Green and Williamson counties, county officials have said. Search and rescue operations are ongoing. Thank you, H-E-B Disaster Relief convoy, traveling on I-10 in Kendall County Texas heading to the flood-affected communities.
What a tragedy! I can't imagine what those families are going through. Prayers for the victims and prays for success for the S&R crews!
I can't comprehend the amount of rainfall they were dealing with. I read that the major river there rose 30 ft in a day. Thoughts and prayers to everyone down there.
At 2:30 am this morning (Monday), the death toll is at 82. The Guadalupe River rose in a matter of hours on July 4th, from getting about 12" of rain in a short time (I've been watching this since Friday, but here is a current article that I got the following snippet from). I went searching for this graph as I had seen it several times (the website). I changed the timespan to only 7/4/2025 and this is shows how fast the water rose according to the monitoring flood gauges (I read that it even took at least on of the gauges out, but that was an early report so may or may not have been accurate) Since then, areas surrounding have had flash flood alerts daily, an Kerr County (the place hit hardest) is currently under another warning. My thoughts go to everyone involved or impacted.
I just saw a time lapse video of the water rising up and can't believe the sheer volume of water. Wishing everyone down there the best in the face of a devastating tragedy.
