The past few days, the work cleaning up the clear cutting is showing progress. Managed to clear away and chip enough nuisance branches to get at some pretty big logs. Tops laying on grades that make me uncomfortable on the tractor at times. depending on the mood, I cut up logs, or tow the splitter to the rounds and make a pile of splits . Going to be taking hiatus as turkey season opens. Of course if I get one quickly, tough luck if I am making noise for anyone else!
This time of year, we can have snow for a few days followed by 60 degree weather. Primary challenge is to have enough dry days for the ground to be firm.
Did a little more this afternoon. Dragged out and cut this log as well as the one beneath. Have a couple split piles beginning to accumulate. It felt as though rain was coming so the tractor and things went into the shop. No rain, but several good women’s games on. More progress to share tomorrow.
A small break n weather around six , Did some splitting with a goal to clear the way to more logs. Some logs were long enough that moving them to level ground to cut rounds wasn’t practical. Some piles in foreground and back.
Whole lotta goldilocks rounds there. Unless they take the pulp, there's always sooo much firewood left after a harvest.
