It's starting to hit me how much more I like this bar and how much lighter it is, the first wedge I cut in awhile and it met up perfectly, picture was after I cleaned it up a little, I was pretty proud of it until the tree barber chaired, got that taken down safely but kinda ugly. I didn't get any pictures of the first cut, but the hung up tree fell perfectly out of the crotch it was in! The two cherry trees that were the subjects of the new bar made perfect seats, one flat cut to each equaled comfort, not sure it was me but seems squaring up to stumps was alot easier, somehow, I wish I had gotten more pics and a cool shot of the saw in a stump! In hindsight that wedge was way too small and probably should have plunge cut this, it had a lean like you wouldn't believe! i think I would have had JUST enough room for the bar to plunge it, this cut was made pretty high so the top wouldn't land in the neighbors property, he's laid-back but I'd rather not barge into the property and it worked great, couple of twigs may have passed the line.
Anything I cut with any more than a little lean gets a small face cut wedge and I plunge in for the felling cut, set the hinge, then snip the holding wood at the back of the felling cut to prevent the chance of barberchair. Glad you got it down safely. It doesn't take much face cut if you're taking it down with the lean. I always plan on being able to plunge cut and make the face cut as small as I need to get the plunge accomplished with holding wood at the rear.
