I had a lean too addition added to the garage a couple years after I had the garage built. I was going to have it built 8' wide the entire length of the garage but thought 9' would be better and should have had it built 10' wide. I can back vehicles into the lean to but it is a little too "snug" for a "mature built" man to get out of the vehicle. I'll explain why.

First year the lean to was built, I left it open with gravel floor and used it for overflow outside storage that would be protected from weather. But, snow blew in from open areas a bit more than I had anticipated. Next year, I bought some fence panels and attached them to the support posts of the lean to which closed if off from the weather...but.......I can no longer open the vehicle door wide enough for me get out comfortably. You see, the first year, I would position the vehicle so it's door would swing open between the lean to posts...no problem then. Once the fence panel walls were put up, problem. 10' would have helped out a lot.

Ended up running wiring and lights out there under cover of the lean to also.

Yes I did. See pic 37E7AB4E-7FD2-4CA8-A23A-2594EE814C75.jpeg was a 2 1/2 and enlarged to a 3 1/2.. there was a lean to where new bay was and did not need a permit if under 100 square feet a year. Which only was important as I was in set back. Addition was 24 x 16.

build it BIGGER. a bay should be 28 by 24 minimum
A lift requires height definitely drive in and out
2 man doors for fresh air
Heat. Enough room for a bench and 2 work on vehicle/tractors mowers inside.
