You won't get many slabs by planing it, lol. It depends on what you can do with it. If you can make some nice pieces AND sell them for a good price or love them, sure.
A guy I know lived in BC for a few years and then moved back home during the carter years (draft dodger). Anyway, he told me once that he visited a logging site and scrounged some huge cedar rounds that he used for making cedar shakes.
I'd offer to go pick it up, if the $90-$100 is what they are going to pay you to take it. Love cedar, but not worth anything to me to pick it up.
To answer your question, it may be worth it to the right person. It'd make some nice cookies if it could be sliced save for that checked end. I saved a stump cut off from a recent scrounge and threw it up for sale on CL. 7-8" thick. If it doesnt sell itll get chopped up and tossed in the nugget bin.
I probably should’ve been more clear that I was joking. Cedar grows huge and plentiful around here, and is easy to find free. I pick up a round once in a while for kindling. Very satisfying to split.
I watched a short video this morning exposing a guy who was going to costco and buying pies, then selling them at a farm market stand for $10 a slice. This reminds me of that. lol
