I got a call from a buddy yesterday. He said he had a truck load of wild cherry. So after work today Me and the boys jumped in the old wood wagon and brought it home. This was a good load of cherry. image.jpeg

Last few winters have been pretty cold. It's not like the northern states but it gets cold.

It seems unfortunate (unfair!) that the further south you get, the higher the btu's you run into, and also the lower the need for high btu's. Somethings not right here.

Sideboards for sure in the near future and I was also thinking of adding helper springs to the back leaf springs. Then maybe it wouldn't squat so bad.

Looks exactly like the wild cherry we have here. Starts off with the bark that looks like birch bark, and then it turns to burnt cornflakes as the trunk gets bigger. If you look closely at the cornflakes they will still have the tiny horizantal dots and dashes like the young bark.

Couple hours south of me...definitely cold enough to fire up. Cherry is good stuff for this time of year; Good to start off with some great-smelling wood that doesn't burn excessively long.
Hey, it's not our fault that plants can scarcely grow up there. When did you take your avatar pic, was that June, or July? o_O ;)
