I looked into those and the Huskee when I bought mine. The Huskee did cost a little more but I felt it was built better, and they had good reviews from a lot of guys. I was down at TSC last night and their splitters are on sale again down to $999. But if that $200 is a big deal I think the Menards splitter will split a lot of wood and get the job done.

My buddy has one and it is nice 3 years 7 cord a year no problems so far. It splits everything you throw at it.

No experience with them but it sure would beat splitting by hand and doesn't look half bad. I would take a chance on it for sure!

I looked at them last time I was at Menards and they looked/felt like cheap Chinese machines to me. But if it is this or no splitter at all, then that might make the decision over a comparable Huskee that much easier.

The ones near me and the one my buddy has are bullet proof...... I wonder if they have changed them up recently.

Possibly. Sadly, this type of stuff (box store home owner power equipment) is rarely build better than last year's model. The hyrdraulic hoses were soft, metal seemed thinner than it should be. Maybe I just have a bad attitude towards Menards' gear after using my BIL's POS Viper chainsaw. That thing was a steaming pile from the get-go.
