Got the plastic covering the screens in the gazebo this weekend. It's a nice place to sit in the winter on a sunny day and catch some rays. Gets well into the seventies in the winter except for the coldest of days.
There is a house in Sweden surrounded by a green house ...Your post reminds me of it... They stay so warm that they had to install shades in greenhouse. Even took the roof off the house to uses the ceilings as decks. It's pretty amazing.
Fascinating! I watched the one in Sweden. Sounds like they heat with wood mid Oct. to March, to supplement the solar heat. justdraftn, your next project?
Interesting to say the least. Yet that had to be very expensive to build! I have not yet watched the entire video but will for sure later.
There is certainly some cost to it all, and some engineering...I like the Geodesic Dome approach, Buckminster Fuller lives on. hmmm....a house in a bubble...takes a while to wrap the mind around it all.
If I were farther north I would definitely do it. I totally dig the extended growing season around the house, and the fact that the kids can play outside .. But not outside in the dead of winter.
