We are working on clearing a path for some new sheep fencing. There were two recently dead white oaks in the way. So, the MS461 and 32" bar got a chance to do work today. Trees were about 17' and 24" DBH and both had nice straight trunks up to about 40'. These will make some awesome lumber and firewood. I dropped a ~14" DBH chestnut oak today, too. That whole tree will go to the firewood hoard.

Those should make great lumber and firewood. Nice job on the felling.

    Nice work!

I'm thinking I could have some lumber made from a couple of decent ash trees ok my wood lot. Nice and straight, would just need to make a makeshift log arch for behind the ATV. My buddy knows a guy that has a portable mill.

Beautiful trees. Nice saw work, too. What kind of sheep?

We breed Icelandics, mostly for wool and milk, but the meat is excellent too. They are pretty much 100% raised for meat in Iceland.

    That’s awesome!
In looking to expand our small forest farm we did a lot of research and met with a handful of people to help us determine whether we wanted to start raising sheep or goats. I’d love to have sheep for the wool, that’d be a really neat experience, but we decided to go with Boer goats for meat as our land is more capable of supporting goats.

Probably a good choice. I think goats are much less work than sheep on average.
