I bought a new wheelbarrow which came from an established maker that had a flat free tire on it.
Pushes great empty but a load of wood feels like you are crossing soft ground or a tire low in air.
Did I get a poorly filled one or are they all this way ?
I rather have the old style if this is normal.

My flat free is like a heavy foam...no fill in mine!

    Works great

Is the tire narrower than a regular air filled tire? I seem to think that the solid tire on my wheelbarrow is that way.

thats the nature of flat free. Their is no air to cushion, so on soft ground it is going to sink more than an air filled that can "float" across the ground better.
Float may be a bad description.

Another case of not being able to have two things at once.
No flats/ Low support or plenty of support and a chance for a flat tire.

I have a wheelbarrow with a flat free tire, and it is harder to push than pneumatic. I won't buy another flat free for wheelbarrow use, because of that, but recently bought two for the small garden trailer.

The trouble with the pneumatic ones are that most are really crappy rubber these days, and they don't last more than a couple of years. I'm starting to accumulate spare rims.

And that is a result of the times, sadly.

This. Super cheap Chinese rubber will crack and fall apart. Seen it a few times. Hell, I used to buy these from China as my job. The US manufacturers do a much better job and are not that much more expensive.

You are exactly right, I've learned my lesson! I keep getting suckered into buying a whole wheel instead of just a tire, because it's a lot easier than prying the small tire onto the rims, and the same price as a US made tire. I wouldn't even mind if I could just add a tube, but the cheap Chinese rubber is so bad that when they go, they are completely unsalvageable.

Just gonna have to get used to paying $30 for a wheelbarrow/cart tire. Ugh.
