What's the best stove ever? A Fisher of course. I am biased and will not entertain any other opinion on this.:p

But, seriously, the Baby Bear is in great shape. Has a nice flat door, and the hinge pins are nice and straight....but....the pins need to be lubricated...what to use?

Last year I cheated and used cooking spray as a quick fix, did fine to get me through. There has to be something better?

Graphite, White Lithium, Never Seize...I can think of something wrong with all of those...don't want to have anything dripping or stinking up the place.

What do you use? ( WeldrDave )

    Agreed best stove ever!
On my mama bear and my copy cat timberline I use silver anti seize. Works well but use small amounts. Repeat couple times a season.

Pam! That's all I ever use. I take one out at a time spray it and put it back. They really were never lubed up from the factory but I have heard some putting high temp EP bearing grease on them. o_O I wouldn't, stick with Pam when they start squeaking.

I never smelled anything from using high temp grease or silver anti-seize.
I prefer anti-seize since it is higher heat rated than any grease I've found. If you grease it at the end of the heating season, it is good to protect all summer when higher levels of moisture condense on the cold stove parts. Then once mid winter.
Open the draft caps and use a brush from the can on the air damper threads as well. Keeping both threads and hinge pins lubed prevents wear on all the moving parts.

I have copper anti-seize that is meant for high temperature applications that I use on manifold bolts on engines, that should stand up to the wood stove.
